The Hepatitis A virus (HAV) antibody blood test is a laboratory test that checks for the presence of antibodies to the Hepatitis A virus in the blood. The test is used to diagnose an active or previous infection with the Hepatitis A virus.

The Hepatitis A virus is a highly contagious virus that can cause liver inflammation and damage. The virus is typically spread through contaminated food or water, or through close contact with an infected person.

The HAV antibody blood test is typically used to diagnose Hepatitis A infections, monitor the progress of the disease, and to determine immunity to the virus in individuals who have been vaccinated against Hepatitis A.
